Job Title: Expert-Level Application Developers – Firearms Database Conversion Project

Job Description: 

The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) is seeking two expert-level Application Developers to contribute to the Firearms Database Conversion Project. This critical initiative involves migrating legacy systems to modern platforms, enhancing functionality, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibility:

  • Convert Classic ASP to MVC ASP.NET, including documentation, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with the DOL project team to analyze, design, and implement software solutions.
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests.
  • Optimize and enhance existing applications to improve system performance.
  • Create and update project management artifacts, such as user stories, tasks, and reports.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and provide production support post-implementation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience:

  • 7+ years of software development experience OR 6 years with an Associate’s degree, 5 years with a Bachelor’s degree, or 4 years with a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.

Proven expertise in:

  • ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, C#, SQL, XML, HTML, JavaScript, JSON, and Visual Studio.
  • Source control (TFS, Azure DevOps, GIT) and automated build/deployment processes.
  • Developing high-quality code and performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Preferred:

  • Experience in system design, architecture, and database programming.

 

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid Schedule: Initial onboarding on-site for up to 3 weeks; remote work allowed thereafter.
  • Work on a high-impact project modernizing public systems.
